Generating Leads from Your Real Estate Blog: Part 2

In the first part of this tutorial, we talked about blogging to generate real estate leads and how it could help you grow your business over time. Now we will look at some advanced techniques and strategies you can use to get even better results from your real estate blogging efforts.

Generating Leads Through Your Blog: Advanced Strategies

If you’re writing about your local real estate market, make sure you are creating original, high-quality content.

Originality is important for search engine optimization reasons. If you publish content that already exists online, your version probably won’t even show up within search engine results. And that undermines your lead generation efforts.

But original content (like an article you wrote that only appears on your site) will show up in search engines. Thus, it will help you boost your website traffic. And traffic is the first step to lead generation.

Originality is important when you’re blogging to generate real estate leads. You want to create unique content that’s tailored to your local audience.

Length is important as well. Generally speaking, search engines tend to rank longer and more comprehensive articles higher than shorter pieces (with all other things being equal).

Longer content also helps you explore your topics more thoroughly, which benefits your human leaders. Of course, you don’t want to sacrifice quality for quantity. But you can certainly benefit from producing comprehensive, in-depth articles that fully explore the topic at hand.

Combining these two things — originality and length — will help you attract visitors and generate more leads from your real estate blog.

Research SEO Keywords and Optimize Your Posts

In a previous article, I offered a list of real estate-related keywords that can help you attract local home buyers and sellers to your website. You can use those keyword phrases when writing blog posts, articles, etc.

By publishing content around popular topics, you could potentially increase your website traffic and generate more leads from your real estate blog.

Local housing market trends are a good place to start. For instance, an agent in the San Diego area might publish a “San Diego housing market forecast for 2020” by using input from housing analysts, economists, etc. This is a common search phrase among home buyers and sellers alike. By covering that topic, the agent would be able to generate more traffic and leads from his or her real estate blog.

To maximize search engine visibility, be sure to include your important keyword phrases within the title of the blog posts. You can also use them throughout the body of the article, in a natural and conversational manner.

When you focus on individual topics within your blog posts, you’re helping the search engines understand what the page is all about. You’re giving them the main idea. This in turn can help you rank well within search engines, when people search for those topics.

Remember: If you want to generate leads from your real estate blog, you must first generate traffic. Keyword research and topical blogging can help you accomplish both of these goals.

Use Multiple Lead Generators on Your Real Estate Blog

In marketing lingo, a “call to action” is a device the invites the reader (or viewer) to take action. Within the context of real estate blogs, the call to action typically encourages the reader to contact the agent.

For instance, you might have a text link at the top of each blog post that invites people to email you with their questions about the local real estate market. That’s a call to action. The “action” in this case occurs when the person sends you an email.

This is also a form of lead generation. When a prospective home buyer or seller contacts you, you are generating a lead through your real estate blog.

You can improve your lead generation by using multiple calls to action across your website. We just covered one example — a text link that welcomes questions from readers. You might also allow your readers to leave comments on your individual blog posts. And maybe you have a toll-free number up in the header, or in the sidebar area.

Those are just a few examples of how you can generate leads through your real estate blog, by using multiple calls to action. And it’s perfectly logical. If you give your website visitors more than one way to interact with you, there’s a stronger chance they’ll actually do that.

Publish New Content on a Regular Basis

Publishing high-quality, original content onto your blog is one of the easiest ways to grow your traffic. This in turn can help you generate more leads from your real estate blog. That’s one of the benefits of a blogging campaign. There’s no limit to how far you can go with it.

Keyword and market research can help you identify an infinite list of blogging topics and ideas. And you can use those topics to create well-optimized blog content that attracts local home buyers and/or sellers to your site.

I know what you’re thinking. I’m a busy real estate agent, and I don’t have time to write blog content very often.

That may be true. And in that case, blogging might not be a good fit for your marketing program.

But if you’ve already decided that a real estate blog is the direction you want to go, you’ll need to carve out some time. Make it your goal to publish new content on a regular basis.

5 Important Takeaways from This Tutorial

We covered a lot of information over the course of this two-part tutorial. So let’s wrap up by looking back at some of the key ideas:

  • You can generate more leads from your real estate blog by publishing on a regular basis, and by optimizing your content around relevant search phrases.
  • Blogging programs like WordPress simplify the publishing process, allowing you to focus on creating great content.
  • If you’re serious about blogging, you might want to consider using a dictation program. It will improve efficiency, while saving you time and energy in the process.
